Allen’s dream turned into a reality and with $500 started the newspaper that is still unmatched today in its inspirational value to the community using the finest artists, poets and visionary’s of the 60’s generation to spread the message of peace and change.
Through the Oracle Allen invited those that wanted to participate in a peaceful demonstration to effect change to the Human Be-In in Golden Gate Park in 1967, turning the attention of the world to San Francisco and the work that was about to transform a generation and make history.
The recent celebration of the Summer of Love in Golden Gate Park is a credit to the foundation Allen, the Oracle and its staff laid.
There will be a screening of the film Oracle Rising, by Claire Burch, followed by readings from Neeli Cherkovski, a prominent North Beach Poet, and long time friend.
Allen’s wife, Ann, will be reading poems from Allen’s work
